Why Give Money?

As you probably know, Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that partners with volunteers, businesses, and families in need to build safe and affordable homes. Money is our greatest need. It's what enables us to do what we do.

This is not a giveaway program. Habitat sells the houses they build at no profit, and we provide an interest-free mortgage. Families make mortgage payments just like any other home owner. Through this unique approach, they help families in need break the cycle of poverty and build a better future.

However, we cannot do this important work alone. We rely on the generosity of donors to support our efforts and make a difference in the lives of families in need. Unlike some non-profit organizations, the Wisconsin Rapids Habitat Board does not take a salary—we are all volunteers.
